Our Territory

Casargo

CasargoIn Casargo the following facilities are available: a medical surgery (tourist doctor only in July and August, general practitioner and pediatrician all year round), the municipality, the town pharmacy, the playground, the oratory, restaurants and pizzerias, the parish church, several groceries, the tobacconist/newsstand, a shop with traditional items of our area.
In the hamlet Codesino you find the Park "Parco delle chiuse" with cycling lane, soccer field, bowling green, skating rink and pizzeria/restaurant.
During the summer, the town administration and the oratory organize a service of entertainment for people of all ages, even for little children.
Casargo occupies the upper valley connecting the Valvarrone to Valsassina, starting from the Bocca di Piazzo and descending to Taceno.
Due to its location, its history dates back to pre-Roman times, as proved by the evidences of several tombs found on site during the last decades of the 19th century.
The town consists of several hamlets: Somadino, Casargo, Codesino, Indovero and Narro.
Casargo is one of the municipalities of the valley with the highest number of vacation houses.
It's mainly due to its natural beauties making it so attractive, that it has become one of the most appreciated naturalistic places of the valley.
Its territory goes till "Monte Muggio", a peak you can reach pretty easily and from where you can enjoy an amazing view view over most Lake Como and the surrounding mountains.
"Paglio sul Cimone" and "Giumello sul Muggio" (two further hamlets) are two beautiful terraces allowing very pleasant trips. Especially Paglio represents an excellent starting point for excursions and mountain crossings even to reach the "Pizzo dei Tre Signori".
The "Valmarcia" valley is interesting from a geological point of view (traces of copper mines) and intriguing for the presence of a huge beech, a real botanical rarity; other giant beech trees can be found at the bottom of the valley in the "Sas da Ròt" area.

Small church of S. Margherita

Chiesa Santa MargheritaThe small church Santa Margherita lies in Somadino, a few steps far away from our B&B. It was probably part of a castle now disappeared, and the apse evidences its Romanesque origin.
Its origins can be traced back to the early centuries of the year 1000 AD
For its peculiarity it is called the "jewel of Valsassina".

L'Alpe di Giumello

Alpe di GiumelloLocated at 1550 mt above sea level, it is a beautiful mountain pasture from where you can enjoy breathtaking views.

It is the perfect destination for a relaxing walk to end in one of the rest stops on site.

Pian delle Betulle (= Birches Plains)

Pian delle BetulleAt about 2 km from the B&B, in the municipality of Margno, there is the cable car station leading to the "Pian delle Betulle" (1501 mt above sea level)
